Ancient Olive Trees - "Old Couple" Beautiful and Inspiring Olive

Years of careful pruning and hundreds of years of natural growth have formed the trees in this ancient olive grove into fantastical shapes, often evoking people or animals. These trees seem to have a spirit of their own and you can almost feel their presence. Unfortunately, years of drought from climate change have threatened these wonderful trees and the fires associated with drought and a warming climate have destroyed many of them. I took this and other photos a number of years ago in the Puglia region of Italy. You can find several images of this award winning series on my website.
