A wood veneer can create the appearance of a solid wood table, but veneers have several important advantages over solid woods. Veneer allows you to create a particular look without using much wood. Veneers can be laid in decorative patterns such as diamond boxes, sunbursts, asymmetrical patterns or imaginative inlays. Many species of wood are available in veneer form with two different grain patterns: Flat Cut (pattern contains cathedrals) or Quarter sawn (pattern is straight grain).
