Cambridge Architectural has developed a brand new, state-of-the-art interior building element - a flat, tensioned ceiling system capable of extending hundreds of feet in length. The system is Cambridge’s newest LandscapeInteriors™ application.

The architectural mesh tensioned ceiling system uses versatile and stylish metal fabric to create an extended surface that can be specified for any requested length, while remaining completely flat – a first for architectural mesh.

The ceiling system maintains acoustic transparency, improves ventilation and engagingly reflects architectural lighting. Also, like all Cambridge LandscapeInteriors systems, the tensioned ceiling dramatically defines and separates space while additionally providing visibility and light. Its function, in combination with its distinctive look, makes it a perfect solution for a variety of interior design needs.

Cambridge’s first architectural mesh tensioned ceiling system was installed inside the brand new Cultural Arts Center on Montgomery College’s Takoma Park, MD campus. The facility is the area’s premier venue for the performing arts, hosting professional public performances and events sponsored by community organizations. SmithGroup was responsible for the design concept, and Cambridge engineered an effective ceiling solution for implementing that concept inside the building’s main 500-seat theatre. The project was completed in June 2009.
